Poop!

It is funny that as soon as you have a baby in your care, no matter what species, the subject of excrement becomes significantly important. At no other time in my life have I cared so much about poop! Whose making it? How much? When? Color? Consistency? Strange to think that your success or failure as a parent of a newborn directly correlates to how "regular" your little one is. Suffice it to say, Squirrel (the glutton) and Mudge (the snacker) are keeping me on my toes. Squirrel is a bully at the milk bar and poor Mudge (I think she thinks his name is "Nudge") gets shoved out of the way as soon as he gets the milk to flow. Last night, I separated Tioga from the pups for a couple of hours, because it was a non-stop happy hour. Momma needed rest and as it turns out the puppies did to. I am guessing, just like human babies, nursing is a comfort to them and not always just a food source. My own Sophie was a professional nurser - seriously, I had to hide from her! It had nothing to do with hunger, just the need to feel close. So, we had a night full of "open buffet" and now the wait begins for ... you guessed it...POOP!

Sophie and Squirrel love a good meal!
