Puppy names announced at Southwest School.

The puppies had a very exciting day as they went to Southwest School to announce their winning names in the "name our puppies" contest. Nine books were donated to the school's media center, all with a dog theme to their stories. All of the dog character names were choices for the students to vote on. 216 students voted and, as you know Squirrel and Mudge were the winners!

Squirrel and Mudge sleeping in their basket as the student filed through the library to meet them.

Three students were chosen at random from the ballot box and were awarded Chinook baseball caps!

Some of the smaller groups of kids got to hold the puppies.

The bigger classes just peeked into the basket. Everyone fell in love with them!

A few teachers couldn't resist cuddling Mudge and Squirrel.

Mrs. Vitalo is the reading specialist. She brings her own dog Tibi to school for the children to read to. She loves dogs! :)

We had a great time including the children in the birth of our first litter. We hope to be able to visit the school again as the puppies grow!
